This entry is to keep you up to date and informed about everything that’s been happening in the local and global economies, as well as equity markets here and around the world. It’s also full of expert views on where markets are likely to head over the coming year. Much to everyone’s relief, this month sees financial markets make back some of the lost ground from previous months. This improvement is on the back of growing investor confidence in the European governments and central banks ability to handle their sovereign debt issues. In other major economies, China’s GDP shows signs of slowing, which ironically, is viewed favourably and economic data out of the US is mixed. Locally, the Australian dollar rebounds and the cash rate remains at 4.5%. As a long-term investor, it’s important to keep in mind that we can probably expect to see more volatility as global markets work towards a sustained recovery.
